Multiple Asphalt Shingles
This house also had 2 layers of shingles. Both layers needed to be removed in order to install the new roof.
Exposed Gas Exhaust Vent
Without proper flashing around roof vents, there are chances that water and debris can get under the shingles around the vent which could cause future damage to the decking (foundation) of the roof. If vents aren't flashed properly, the roof is at greater risk of acquiring leaks.
Damaged Decking
When the old shingles were removed, the roofing team saw that there were some minor decking issues.
New Decking
Since the existing damage to the decking was minor, the roofing team was able to cut to size the proper amount of OSB to replace it.
Ridge Flashing and Shingle Install
Once the ridge flashing is installed, the new shingles can be installed over it.
Gas Exhaust Vent
The old gas exhaust vent was replaced with a completely brand new one.
After Shot of Complete Re-roof
Compared to the before picture of this house, these new IKO Dynasty Shingles in the color Driftshake look so much better! Along with new shingles, the homeowner wanted proper ventilation installed to keep her home cooler. The roofing team added 3 new vents to the roof along with the 2 that already existed. All 5 vents were covered with turtle vent caps.
After Roof Replacement
These IKO Dynasty Shingles in the color Driftshake bring this roof to life. The matching vents and vent caps also compliment this homeowner's new roof!
A Complete Shingle Roof Replacement
This roof has come a long way! From the initial given estimate to the final sign-off of the completion of the roof, Fortenberry Roofing did its best to provide top-notch service for this homeowner. The end results look awesome!
Before The Re-Roof
Initially, this roof had damage from years of wear and tear from exposure to the elements of weather. Over the years the shingles had lost their color and effectiveness to protect the house that stood under them.
Time to Vent
Here is a picture of an old gas exhaust vent that has begun to rust. Accompanying the vent are multiple discolored shingles that have seen better days.
Shingles at The End of Their Lifespan
These shingles have begun to deteriorate and decay. If they are not replaced, they will rot down to the decking (the foundation of the roof), which will then begin to rot as well (if it already hasn't).
Asphalt Shingles
During the tear-off process, we see that the bottom layer of shingles is in better shape than the top. This is still incorrect roofing, though, so both layers must be removed in order to properly re-shingle the roof.
Tear Off Process of A Re-Roof
Here is a look at the roof after the old shingles were removed. Once the remaining shingle debris is properly disposed of, the re-roof team will nail new underlayment to the roof so the decking (the foundation of the roof) can be more protected from outside factors.
IKO Underlayment
Once the decking was checked and the damaged parts replaced, the roofing team was able to lay down IKO StormTite synthetic underlayment. Along with the underlayment, ice and water shield (also underlayment) were placed around each went to add extra protection from water entering the structure of the roof.
Turtle Vent
Here is another angle of the ice and water shield with a turtle vent installed. This Ice and water shield underlayment ensures that rainwater will not get up under the vent and into the home. The rainwater will do what it's supposed to and roll down the remainder of the shingles.
Full Roof Replacement in Progress
This was a perfect day for a re-roof! In this picture, our roofing team was more than halfway finished laying down the Driftshake (color of shingle) IKO Dynasty Shingles that the owner had chosen.
Ridge Flashing
On a double-wide mobile home, there must be metal flashing installed to the ridge where the two sides of the home join together.
