Flat Modified Roofing System
Hail damage is now visible on the shingles. Also, the homeowner is getting the flat modified section and metal patio cover replaced.
Hail Damage
This roof was totaled due to severe hail damage. Here are the marks made by Fortenberry Roofing's re-roof salesman when he went to give the initial re-roof estimate.
Turtle Vent damage
All the damaged turtle vents and vent pipes will be replaced in the re-roof as well.
Removing Old Nails
Once the old shingles have been removed, the crew tries to get as many of the leftover shingle nails out of the way so the old underlayment can be replaced without any hindrances.
Tear Off Almost Complete
The damaged shingles have been removed and the slate is almost clean for the crew to begin laying new underlayment on the roof and continue the roof replacement process.
Valley Flashing
It is important to flash the valleys of a roof properly to keep the roofing system waterproof and airtight, keeping the elements from the interior of the property.
Pipe Flashing
It is important to flash all piping on a roof correctly so that when rainwater runs off the roof it does not collect under the pipe and ruin the decking (foundation) of the roof or seep down into the interior of the home.
R-Panel Replacement
Along with the re-roof of the house, the patio cover was replaced with new sheets of R-Panel.
After: Patio Covering
The new R-Panel patio covering.
Replaced Porch Support Posts
Along with the re-roof, Fortenberry Roofing had a crew that replaced 4 support posts that supported the front porch.
After Full Roof Replacement
The homeowner chose IKO Cambridge shingles in the color Weatherwood and a modified roofing system to match. This shade of grey compliments the darker shade of brick laid in the siding of the house.
Before A Full Roof Replacement
From this view, the hail damage cannot be seen, but you can see shingles that were being lifted as the wind blew.
During Install of New Roof
Once the old roof and old roofing felt were removed, the re-roof crew installed IKO Stormtite synthetic underlayment. Once the underlayment is laid, shingles are soon to be installed.
3 Stages During Roof Install
In this photo, there is a lot going on. From left to right: New shingles have been installed, IKO Stormtite Underlayment is ready for shingles to be installed on it, and black modified base sheets have been laid. To the far right, the new Polyflex modified roofing system has been partially laid.
